I Wanna Tithe (Part 1)

Tithing in the New Covenant: From Compulsion to Partnership

Pastor Ryan introduces a three-part teaching on the controversial topic of tithing, stressing there is no coercion and his goal is for people to say “I want to tithe,” not “I should tithe.” Using Hebrews 7:4–5 and Abraham’s tithe to Melchizedek, he argues New Covenant giving is not a compulsory Levitical tax or driven by Malachi-based fear, but a voluntary act of worship, surrender, and partnership in God’s Kingdom. He acknowledges historic church abuses, addresses common reasons people don’t tithe (compulsion, lack of trust, lack of teaching, consumerism, disappointment with God, privatized faith, and poverty), and clarifies The Way’s finances and leadership integrity. He warns against manipulating God for financial return, teaches that God has already provided in Christ, and shares testimonies—including hardship after giving more—emphasizing God owes nothing, but believers owe Him everything.
