#107 The Reality Of War | Special Forces Commando - Murray Turner

1h 32m | Feb 8, 2024

Murray Turner went from a Police Officer to Pilot and then spent 20 years in the Australian Army, 15 of those in Special Operations (Special Forces) as a Commando. He is the definition of 'quiet professional' and I managed to get a few war stories out of him of the adrenaline-pumping missions to everyday challenges.

This episode is a raw and is an inspiring glimpse into the real experiences of those who have served.  Providing insights and a deeper understanding of the sacrifices and triumphs of those who have dedicated their lives to service.

I have heard the quote relating to military personnel previously, 'ordinary people doing extraordinary things'. The reality is... they are all extraordinary.

We discuss: Military transition, Commando selection, Life in the Special forces, Veteran experiences, Military operations, Combat tours, Impact of war, Personal security details, Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC), Military planning, Red tape challenges, Hostage recovery, Tactical assault group, Transition challenges, Mission flexibility, Leadership roles
