Enneagram’s Viral Moment: What Beatrice Chestnut Says Most People Get Wrong (and How to Actually Do the Work)

On the Enneagram Adventure podcast, hosts Holly and Tannah interview Enneagram author and teacher Beatrice Chestnut about using the Enneagram for real growth rather than stereotypes. Chestnut shares how she learned the Enneagram in 1990 through psychiatrist David Daniels and Helen Palmer’s early work, identified as a Type 2, and later became a psychotherapist and Enneagram educator. The conversation covers the upside and downside of the Enneagram’s popularity on social media, how it can become superficial or used as an excuse, and how deeper work involves facing discomfort, shadow patterns, and growth under stress. Chestnut explains “false self” vs “true self,” why your type doesn’t change, offers a primer on all nine types, and discusses the re-release of The Complete Enneagram alongside her upcoming book The Enneagram of Connection.
