In a pre-Y2K world concerned about the effects of technology on society, Jodie Foster and McConaughey still find time to fall in love. Jodie Foster is a hardcore scientist and McConaughey is a man of the cloth (without the cloth) who does not like technology. What would his character have to say about you listening to this podcast? How strongly would he oppose your daily screen time? In today’s world, distractions are available at the press of a button and (wait a moment while I check my Instagram)...ok so anyway, what was I saying? OK, now I have only 2 minutes to add a BeReal and my friends get pissy if I don’t add one…OK, that’s done and you have my full attention. Yes, I do think that some technology has made society worse in some ways, but DoorDash is pretty good. Except that the gig economy might be destroying the labor market as we know it. I say we organize and demand better paying jobs! I’ll get on that, right after I beat this round of Candy Crush or whatever...
