Clearbirth EP 35: Inductions and Long Labors
Join your host Annette Perel, a doula for over 17 years, for The Clearbirth Podcast!
Broken up into segments that reflect the stages of pregnancy including, the First Trimester, Second Trimester, Third Trimester, Labor, and Postpartum, Annette details her longest labor with a magical client.
But first, she takes the time to remember Dr. Shalon Irving PhD, MPH, MS, CHES, a mother gone too soon who died shortly after giving birth to her daughter Soleil. Dr. Shalon, an epidemiologist at the CDC, devoted much of her career to health care disparities and structural racism. Her death sparked outrage and heartache and showed the world that even an esteemed scholar and educated Black woman could be neglected by the healthcare system.
Later, Annette tells the story of a special client’s long labor. Can you guess how many days it lasted? Yes, days. You’re gonna have to tune in to hear all about it.
It’s an episode that will show you that every labor is different and that’s okay. We can’t wait to hear what you think about it.
