• Never Fight Alone: Helping Teens with Shelomo Solson

Shelomo Solson is the founder of Teenage Impact. When you look or talk to him, he seems motivated and confident. He wasn’t always like this. Below is his condensed story – the story of an underdog.

Shelomo was bullied starting in 3rd grade. He dreaded going to school for ten years because of it. He was bullied for his accent, ethnicity, religion, athleticism, weight, height, the clothes he wore, not having a girlfriend, the list can goes on.

Sometimes he would come home with bruises crying. He didn’t want to defend himself or tell an adult because he was afraid of being known as a “snitch” or getting beat up harder. He made his parents not say anything.

Now, Shelomo runs Teenage Impact, where he helps teenagers overcome their challenges.

    Episode highlights:

    • How to make money as a youth speaker
    • How to help teenagers with the unique problems that they face
    • What to do about bullies.
    • How to support a loved one dealing with suicide ideation
    • Encourage young people to dream and set goals
    • Plan backwards. Decide where you want to be, then make an actionable plan on how to get there step by step.
    • Everyone experiences setbacks and roadblocks. Instead of letting them get you down, acknowledge them and make simple adjustments to overcome them.
    • The best way to become good at public speaking is public speaking.

  • Becoming a Thought Leader with Adam Mendler

Adam Mendler is the Chief Executive Officer of The Veloz Group, where he co-founded and oversees ventures across a wide variety of industries: Beverly Hills Chairs, a leading office furniture e-tailer; Custom Tobacco, a one-of-a-kind cigar customization e-commerce platform; and Veloz Solutions, a technology consulting and software development practice. Adam remains active in each portfolio company, providing strategic guidance and support. Adam also provides business thought leadership as a speaker to businesses, universities and non-profit organizations; as the host of the leadership and personal / professional development podcast Thirty Minute Mentors; as an expert regularly cited in national media outlets; and as an advisor, consultant, coach and board member.

    Episode highlights:

    • Specialization is important. It’s really hard to run a lot of businesses at once. Find 1 thing that you’re really good at and double down on that.
    • Becoming a thought leader - become an expert in your desired subject matter. Say something unique and be authentic. Put content out there.
    • Don’t be the best version of someone else. Be the best version of yourself.
    • Become a good listener. Listen more than you speak.
    • Is it a good idea to work with family?
    • You need to be clearly focused on the right priorities and vision in order to move your business forward.
    • Don’t forget to focus on cashflow and revenue.
    • You can’t do everything on your own. In order to scale a business you need to hire good people.
    • Work on your business. Not just in your business.
    • When you’re starting out, take your lumps early and learn as much as you can.

  • Commercial Real Estate Investing with Paul Moore

After graduating with an engineering degree and then an MBA from Ohio State, Paul entered the management development track at Ford Motor Company in Detroit. After five years, he departed to start a staffing company with a partner. They scaled and sold the company to a publicly traded firm five years later. After a brief “retirement”, Paul began investing in real estate in 2000 to protect and grow his own wealth.

He completed over 85 real estate investments and exits, appeared on HGTV’s House Hunters, rehabbed and managed dozens of rental properties, built a number of new homes, and developed a subdivision. Three successful real estate developments, including assisting with the development of a Hyatt hotel and a very successful multifamily project in 2010, convinced him of the power of commercial real estate. Paul is married with 4 children and lives in Central Virginia.

    Episode highlights:

    • The best way to succeed is to fail and learn from failure.
    • Commercial vs residential real estate investing.
    • True wealth = assets that produce income.
    • Investing vs. speculating. Investing is math. Investing is boring. But investing is predictable.
    • Everything has a learning curve. Take time to learn. Start small.
    • Look for experienced mentors and coaches. NOT “gurus”
    • Wealth doesn’t bring happiness.
    • Success is finding out why you are on the planet and then doing it.

    Episode highlights:

    • Talk to your customer support and sales departments! They talk to the customer every day and can tell you what pain points they have. Then, create content to solve their problems.
    • Content isn’t about promoting your products. Instead, it’s about solving problems.

  • Olympics, Real Estate, and Business with Hans Struzyna

    Hans Struzyna Bio:

In my 30 years on this planet, I‘ve learned a few lessons that I apply to everything I do. The first is that all goals must be written down and visible on a daily basis. The second is that there’s no such thing as overnight success and consistent work is the only path to success. Finally, everything is the way it is because someone made it that way. So to understand people is to understand the world.

I‘ve applied these lessons to my 12 year rowing career culminating as a member of the 2016 USA Olympic rowing team. After the Games, I had to descend from the metaphorical mountain I‘d spent years scaling and ended up feeling lost for the first few months. Searching for my next climb, I found real estate. I got my license six months later and have been pursuing all avenues of this business ever since. I‘m a Realtor Partner with a Wall Street Journal Top 100 nationally ranked team, The Gunderman Group. We focus on advocacy, risk management and exceeding our clients personal definitions of success. By staying true to those core values, we’re the top team in the East Bay of the Bay Area and sell over $180M per year (with over $1.5B sold in total) with an average price point of $1.2M. I’m also fascinated by real estate investing and completed my first flip during my first year in the business. My wife and I also invest in out-of-state multi family properties. I’m actively looking for my next few deals.

I wanted to share the value of creating your own path and building a life of freedom, so I recently created a podcast called Another Way To Play. I believe that if you trade hours for dollars, you will never achieve true freedom in your life. I bring inspirational and practical content to listeners at their own personal crossroads by interviewing entrepreneurs, thought leaders and industry experts to learn how they achieved freedom in their lives.

I recently got married to the love of my life, Kristin, who is also an Olympic rower and entrepreneur. She runs her own business and loves real estate investing and we are actively building what we call our “business/real estate empire.”

    Enjoy!

  • Hacking your Fear with Mike Szczesniak

Mike Szczesniak is the world’s leading high performance coach for Millennial Executives and Entrepreneurs. Having struggled with anxiety and panic attacks in his early 20s, Mike realized he had a very skewed view of what it really meant to be 'productive'.

This set him on a path of personal growth, and ultimately led to his obsession with productivity and high performance.

Through his content, speaking, and coaching, Mike helps his clients show up more powerfully and get to the next level. Period.

    Enjoy!
